Virginia V Foundation

The Steamer Virginia V Foundation hired Heron Scott as executive director. Scott has spent his career in the maritime heritage field, restoring historic fishing vessels at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, managing capital projects at the Center for Wooden Boats in Seattle and creating public programs for the Coastal Heritage Alliance in Gig Harbor. He is board president of the Coastal Heritage Alliance. The Virginia V was built in 1922 for the West Pass Transportation Co., to carry freight and passengers from towns on Vashon Island to Seattle and Tacoma. It is the last surviving wooden-hull steam-powered vessel from the Mosquito Fleet.
