King County Executive Dow Constantine said Alex Fryer will become communications director Aug. 1. He has experience in both public and private sector communications as vice president at The Fearey Group, press secretary to former Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels, and as a journalist at the Seattle Times and Puget Sound Business Journal.
