Khandelwal

King County Executive Dow Constantine appointed Anita Khandelwal as director of the Department of Public Defense and John Taylor as director of the Department of Local Services. Khandelwal was deputy director of law and policy before she was appointed interim director. She joined the department in 2015 and has been practicing law for more than a decade. Taylor was an assistant division director at the county's Department of Natural Resources & Parks. The new Department of Local Services will have permitting and road divisions to serve nearly 250,000 people in unincorporated King County.
