Brightmark Energy, a San Francisco-based waste and energy development company, launched a biogas project in Yakima County that includes a new pipeline. The plant will convert 150,000 gallons per day of dairy waste from up to 7,000 cows, resulting in annual production of 160,000 MMBtu of renewable natural gas — the equivalent of 1.4 million gallons of gasoline. The project team includes Augean Renewable Natural Gas, Promus Energy and DeRuyter Dairies. Brightmark is managing the joint venture and Promus is the project manager. Production could start later this year.
