Streateries could last another year

SEATTLE — If legislation submitted by councilmember Dan Strauss is approved, Seattle's many streateries, opened due to the COVID-19 pandemic, could be a feature of the city's sidewalks until at least 2023.

The council member for District 6 introduced legislation to extend free cafe street and outdoor dining permits through Jan. 31, 2023. The current cafe street pilot program is set to expire on May 31. Strauss's ultimate goal is to see streateries become permanent, a move he says would be good for business.
