Neighborhood and Community Services Director Linda Stewart is leaving the city of Tacoma to assume a leadership position outside the state of Washington. Stewart joined the city as the interim neighborhood and community services director in 2017, and was appointed director later that year. With her leadership, the city has responded to two public health emergencies; managed programs, contracts and grants to bring human services to the community; and ensured continuity of essential neighborhood and community services through the pandemic. Effective April 30, Allyson Griffith will be appointed by the city manager as interim neighborhood and community services director. Griffith currently is the department's assistant director, and has been with the city for almost 15 years, serving in various positions.
