NW Motorsport closes its doors

PUYALLUP — Former Mariner Jay Buhner, pitchman for Northwest Motorsport, often cited the company's slogan: “Trucks, trucks and more trucks!”

It's perhaps those trucks that may have done the company in, as used-vehicle prices dropped in the wake of the pandemic and interest rates remained high. The state received a WARN notice Wednesday from the dealership that it plans to lay off 142 workers in a permanent closure. The company's website says: “After thoughtful consideration and evaluation of today's pre-owned vehicle market conditions, we have decided to close operations at Northwest Motorsport, effective January 23, 2024.”
