Council OKs transit safety task force

SEATTLE — The King County Council on Tuesday unanimously approved legislation to support the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 587's call for the establishment of a countywide task force on transit safety.

The legislation requests the King County executive's and council's assistance in establishing and participating in the task force. It was introduced following the murder of transit operator Shawn Yim in December.
