After more than 40 years in clinical practice, Dr. Frank Senecal is stepping into an expanded role as chief medical officer of the South Sound CARE Foundation. Senecal will retire from Northwest Medical Specialties (NWMS) to fully dedicate his efforts to bringing cutting-edge treatments and clinical trials to patients in the South Sound. In 1985, Senecal founded Hematology Oncology Northwest, which later merged with Rainier Hematology Oncology to become Northwest Medical Specialties. “Seeing our practice grow with the support of local physicians and our incredible patients has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career,” said Senecal. “While I may be stepping away from my clinical role, my commitment to advancing cancer care remains as strong as ever. I'm excited to continue this work through South Sound CARE, where we're bringing the latest research and treatments directly to the patients who need them most.” Since founding the South Sound CARE Foundation in 2008, Senecal has been instrumental in expanding access to clinical trials, innovative therapies, and leading research — allowing patients to receive world-class care close to home. To honor Senecal's new chapter, a celebration will be held on June 11, from 4-7 p.m. at Narrows Marina.
