KING COUNTY — The King County Council on Tuesday approved legislation to send the Parks Levy renewal to voters on the August ballot. The levy provides all funding to operate and maintain King County's regional and local parks, trails and open space system.
The current six-year Parks Levy generates about 85% of King County Parks' budget and will expire at the end of the year. Former King County Executive Dow Constantine announced plans to renew the levy in February. If it passes, it is estimated that $1.4 billion would be generated over the life of the new six-year levy at a cost of around 11 cents more per day for the average King County homeowner, starting in January 2026.
