Evergreen Goodwill will repurpose the furniture across its facilities, including the coming Georgetown operations center, and sell the rest at its stores.

Evergreen Goodwill of Northwest Washington encourages local businesses to follow the lead of Vanbarton Group, which recently donated an estimated $100,000 in surplus office furnishings from the former Zulily headquarters at 2601 Elliott Ave.

Zulily left its Seattle headquarters in 2023.

The commercial real estate investment firm Vanbarton Group, which now owns the building, facilitated the donation of hundreds of office chairs, desks, IT equipment, kitchen appliances, and more.

These items are being repurposed across Evergreen Goodwill's facilities, including its new Georgetown operations center scheduled to open this fall, and the job training and education centers it operates in five counties. The remaining items will be sold in Goodwill stores, with proceeds supporting free job training and education programs for people facing barriers to employment.

The commercial real estate investment firm Vanbarton Group facilitated the donation.

“This donation is a powerful example of how businesses can make a meaningful difference in their communities,” said Libby Johnson McKee, CEO and president of Evergreen Goodwill. “By choosing to donate rather than discard, the Vanbarton Group helped us stretch our resources and invest more deeply in the people we serve. We hope other companies will be inspired to do the same.”

The Vanbarton Group reached out directly to Evergreen Goodwill because of the nonprofit's commitment to sustainability and economic mobility, according to a press release. The donation diverted valuable resources from landfills and also saved funds Evergreen Goodwill would have spent on equipment, funds that can now be redirected to mission-critical services.
