Outgoing mayor signs '26 budget

SEATTLE — Mayor Bruce Harrell signed the city of Seattle's 2026 budget into law last week, with $8.9 billion in appropriations overall and $2 billion toward General Fund priorities.

Passed unanimously by the City Council on Nov. 21, the final budget maintains key priorities the mayor proposed in September, and includes a $349.5 million investment in affordable housing, and $228.5 million ¯for homelessness efforts, including funding to open three new shelters with 159 new beds.
