Waterfront route to close to cars

SEATTLE — Mayor Katie B. Wilson is encouraging Seattleites to get out on their bikes this summer. As part of a new initiative called Bicycle Weekends, she recently announced that a portion of Lake Washington Boulevard will be closed to motorized vehicles every weekend from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

The portion stretches roughly from Colman Park to Seward Park. The closure will create a safe, car-free space along the waterfront for people to walk, bike, and roll, the mayor says.
