City council eyes halt on data centers

SEATTLE — Seattle City Councilmembers are moving to temporarily halt new data center development as they weigh the growing impact of energy-intensive facilities on the city's infrastructure and environment.

On Thursday, councilmembers Debora Juarez, Eddie Lin and Council President Joy Hollingsworth announced plans to introduce an emergency moratorium on new data centers, along with a resolution calling for extensive impact studies.
