SEATTLE — Gov. Bob Ferguson is asking the U.S. Treasury Department to grant federal tax deadline extensions for Washington residents and businesses affected by this summer's wildfires.
In a letter to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, the governor requested a one‑year postponement for filing and payment deadlines, arguing that evacuations, property loss, business closures and damaged records have made it difficult for many Washingtonians to meet their federal tax obligations.
