Governor expands wildfire emergency

By JOURNAL STAFF

OLYMPIA — Gov. Bob Ferguson amended his wildfire emergency proclamation Tuesday to include five additional counties, and extend certain state protections and assistance for another 60 days for all counties in the proclamation.

The amendment adds Benton, Columbia, Grant, Kittitas and Whitman counties to those eligible for the programs, bringing the total number of counties covered by the state of emergency to 12, along with three Tribal Nations.
