Gov. seeks wildfire disaster relief

SPOKANE — Gov. Bob Ferguson sent a letter to President Donald Trump Monday formally requesting a federal Major Disaster Declaration following devastating wildfires this summer in Eastern Washington.

If granted, that would unlock an estimated $11.2 million in assistance for individuals in the four counties and Tribal lands. Gov. Ferguson is also requesting two types of FEMA Public Assistance funds to assist with debris cleanup, and recover costs from the emergency response in 11 counties. If granted, Washington could qualify for roughly $117.7 million.
