TACOMA — The city of Tacoma's proposed 2027-28 biennial budget calls for $5.3 billion in spending and seeks to address a $40 million structural deficit in the city's $696 million general fund.
The proposal would restructure business license fees, leaving rates lower or unchanged for 80% of licensed businesses. Businesses with more than $5 million in annual gross revenue would see increases. A new 10% commercial parking tax is expected to generate $2.25 million for transportation infrastructure.
