More drops for AI, tech stocks overshadow other gains on Wall Street

NEW YORK — A morning rally for U.S. stocks petered out on Monday as the tech and AI industries remained shaky following their sell-off last week.

The S&P 500 sank 0.5% after erasing a gain that had reached 1.1% early in the day. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 213 points, or 0.4%, while the Nasdaq composite fell 1.1%.
