NEW YORK Breaking up may be hard to do, but not for some corporate marriages that may fare better after divorce.
While a surge in takeovers has stolen the spotlight on Wall Street lately, not everyone is seeing the value of pairing up with someone else. In fact, some big companies including American Express and Sara Lee have announced plans to spin off units they feel could gain more by operating on their own.
