On the Block: From burning tire dump to Riverfront: Everett finally getting long-planned project
It was a landmark in the mid 1980s. Driving north on Interstate 5, you knew Everett was getting close, with the Highway 2 exit just ahead, when you came to the burning tire dump. From somewhere in back of the family station wagon, the children began to cheer and the dogs to howl.
The name still carries pungent romance.
