Twenty individuals last week graduated from the eighth annual Turner School of Construction Management in Seattle. The free program enables leaders of minority-owned, women-owned and emerging small businesses to develop a comprehensive understanding of the construction industry through hands-on course work and case studies. The school consists of 15 courses covering such topics as business plan writing, marketing, accounting and financial management, bid estimating, purchasing, safety and risk management. Since its inception locally in 2000, about 175 have graduated from the school. The program has been in place since 1969 nationally with more than 20,000 participants.
