Crane supplier hires inspectors

Lewis Equipment Co., which supplied the three Sun tower cranes shut down last week in the Seattle area by the state, has hired its own consultants to inspect the equipment. The state Department of Labor and Industries claims the cranes are not certified electrically and two of them combine parts made from different manufacturers.

According to a press release from Grand Prairie, Texas-based Lewis Equipment, the company hired Casper, Phillips & Associates to examine the cranes structurally and file a report with L&I. It also hired TUV America to inspect and certify that the cranes meet Washington electrical code requirements.
