DBM Contractors
Bob Birdsall has retired after working more than 40 years with Federal Way's DBM Contractors. Birdsall began at the firm in 1967 as an equipment operator and worked his way through the ranks to foreman, superintendent, area manager for the North Slope of Alaska's Prudhoe Bay, senior estimator and project manager. In 2007, he became the company's first dedicated full-time safety director after serving as its safety committee chairman for 13 years. He held leadership positions and served on several committees of the International Association of Foundation Drilling's West Coast Chapter. He also taught at the drill rig operators' school for the association.
