Construction management students from Central Washington University placed third in the Commercial Construction and Multi-Family categories at the Associated Schools of Construction 2011 Student Competition and Construction Management Conference last month in Reno, Nev. CWU was competing in the Far West region group. Students were tested in estimating, project management, safety and logistics. The Commercial team included: Tela Gilge, Jake Kelsey, Sari Gudwin, Justin Pritchett, Josh Roeter, David Rothnie, Jeff Bird (alternate) and CM professor Bill Bender (coach). The Multi-Family team included: Craig Almont, Kelvin Crockford, Jacqueline DeRuyter, Sam Fowler, Jesse Galligan, Jeremy Winter, Caleb Boston (alternate) and professor Dave Carns (coach). Almont also won the Outstanding Presenter award from Morley Builders. CWU was supported by Granite Construction, Gary Merlino Construction Co., Sellen Construction, Belsaas and Smith Construction, Thayer Excavating and Walsh Construction.
