HYAK, Kittitas County — Partial closures this week of Interstate 90 in the Snoqualmie Pass area will mark the start of a $236 million project to improve two miles of freeway between the Keechelus Lake snowshed and Keechelus Dam.
The Washington State Department of Transportation last month awarded a $176.98 million contract to Guy F. Atkinson Construction of Renton for the job. Atkinson will build three new lanes in each direction, replace bridges and culverts, stabilize rock slopes, and demolish and replace the snowshed.
