Seattle Public Schools is seeking a general contractor for a $10.5 million project to modernize and expand T.T. Minor School on Union Street, which will become the new home for Seattle World School.
Seattle World School is now at 301 21st Ave. E., next to Miller Community Center and playfield.
Construction will start this summer on the new space.
The school will be renovated and enlarged to create a 53,200-square-foot building that can accommodate up to 360 students. The addition will contain a kitchen, cafeteria and stage. It will be wood-frame construction with fiber cement rain screen cladding.
Renovation will involve replacing doors and windows, upgrading mechanical systems, and adding daylighting and lighting controls.
A pre-bid meeting and walk-through will be held April 8 at the site, 1700 E. Union St.
Hamlin Robinson School, which is in the building now, will move to a new location later this year. In fall 2016, Seattle World School will move into the renovated T.T. Minor.
TCF Architecture is in charge of design. The design team is: PCS Structural Solutions, structural engineer; Metrix Engineers, mechanical engineer; Hargis Engineers, electrical engineer; AHBL, civil engineer and land-use consultant; Associated Earth Sciences, geotechnical consultant; and ESA, SEPA.
