The University of Washington plans to start work in June on a 4,000-square-foot lab for staff to conserve books and papers.
The lab will be on the fifth floor of Suzzallo Library on the Seattle campus.
The UW is seeking bids by May 13 from contractors who want to build the lab, which is estimated to cost about $1.3 million, according to a notice in the April 22 DJC.
A pre-bid meeting will be at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at the project site.
Schacht|Aslani Architects designed the lab, which will be made by converting a storage room and some faculty offices.
The lab will give UW libraries more space and state-of-the art equipment to care for rare books, manuscripts, maps and drawings.
