Honda/Toyota dealer lands on Airport Way

Sodo Partners LLC recently opened its combined Honda and Toyota dealership at Airport Way and South Holgate Street in Seattle.

Bryce Falkin of Falkin Associates said, “This is a unique facility in the United States."

It has independent vehicle showrooms and service facilities for both Honda and Toyota within the same building.

“Detailed negotiations, planning and design approvals were required in order to meet the requirements of both manufacturers, the city of Seattle and the dealership owner,” Falkin said in a news release.

Falkin was development manager and owner's rep.

General contractor Foushee built the 405,000-square-foot project on a fast-track schedule of 21 months.

The dealership is six floors with the Honda and Toyota showrooms on the first floor, each separated by six entry drive lanes leading into the vehicle service and parts warehouse areas. Offices are on the second and third floors. More than 1,000 parking stalls for new vehicles are on floors three through six.

Automatic garage doors open for customers entering the main service area. Once inside, high-tech sensors assess tire tread depth and alignment on each car.

The team was: Zimmeray Studios, architect; Pace Engineers, civil engineer; Magnusson Klemencic Associates, structural engineer; DCI Engineers, cladding structural engineer; Hamasaki Consulting Engineering Services, LEED consultant; Hart Crowser, geotechnical engineer; G-Logics, environmental engineer; AAR Testing Laboratory, inspector; Hermanson Co., design-build mechanical; Sequoyah Electric, design-build electrical; Smith Fire Systems, design-build fire sprinklers; Kimberly Stewart Design, interior designer; Western Neon, exterior signs; and Toyota Financial Services, financing.
