Sea-Tac looks at new hardstand systems to handle record crowds

  • The port has issued an advanced notice to design-build teams about the project, which could cost as much as $30 million.

    Hardstands such as this one at Sea-Tac are places on the apron where planes can park. Passengers are shuttled to the terminal by bus.

    A record 42.3 million passengers used Sea-Tac Airport last year and the tally so far this year is running 10 percent ahead of that.
