SEATTLE — The city of Seattle and King County last week awarded a $254.99 million contract to Lane Construction for the largest piece of the $570 million Ship Canal Water Quality project.
Most of the job involves construction of a 2.7-mile water storage tunnel near the Lake Washington Ship Canal. The nearly 19-foot-diameter tunnel will be built with a tunnel boring machine. It will be able to temporarily hold more than 29 million gallons of stormwater and sewage during heavy rains.
