Port shuts down construction work

SEATTLE — The Port of Seattle suspended about 20 construction projects starting today and lasting until Monday.

The move allows project leaders to complete reviews and updates of contractors' jobsite safety plans in response to the COVID-19 outbreak.

The port says the action is necessary to protect workers and slow the spread of the virus. The suspension doesn't apply to Northwest Seaport Alliance projects.
