The state Department of Labor & Industries cited Penhall Co. for shorting some of its workers and ordered the company to pay over $800,000 in unpaid wages, interest and fines. Penhall is one of the contractors working on the $3.7 billion East Link Extension for Sound Transit, which is slated to open in 2023.
L&I claims Penhall owes $648,609.68 in wages and interest to 37 workers, and over $150,000 in fines for failure to pay prevailing wages and filing falsified certified payroll reports.
