Construction employment in Washington, 5 other states above pre-pandemic levels

Projects like the Seattle waterfront rebuild are keeping construction workers busy in Washington. Gary Merlino Construction is building a new Alaskan Way along the waterfront.

Seasonally adjusted employment numbers released last week by the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics show only six states had more people working in construction in February than in February 2020, the month before most jobsites were temporarily closed by the pandemic. One of those states was Washington.
