Pete Kangas, vice president of global critical facilities at Turner Construction Co., is retiring this week. The company announced that Jim Faria will assume Kangas' responsibilities as director of preconstruction. Kangas has been in the construction industry for 40 years, including 32 years with Turner, where he rose through the ranks to lead mechanical and electrical preconstruction in the Seattle office. He then helped launch Turner's mission critical group, which has built over $9 billion worth of data centers around the world. Faria has 26 years of construction experience, serving in leadership positions in Miami and Charlotte, North Carolina. In 2001, he and Kangas worked on their first data center project at Turner in Florida.
