Concrete workers continue picketing local jobsites after holiday break

This section of the new Alaskan Way along the Seattle waterfront will need concrete soon, as will the Union Street pedestrian bridge under construction in the left background.

It started in November with 34 union dump truck drivers striking against Gary Merlino Construction over wages and retirement benefits. Since then, it has snowballed into 330 Teamsters Local 174 members picketing five additional companies associated with the region's concrete industry.
