12-hour meeting, better wage offer fail to end ongoing concrete strike

After not meeting for over a month, striking Teamsters and several ready-mix concrete companies on Thursday met with Federal Mediation and Conciliation Services mediators for 12 hours.

Apparently those negotiations bore little fruit, as 330 sand and gravel workers continued their strike that started Dec. 3 against Glacier Northwest/CalPortland, Stoneway Concrete, Salmon Bay Sand & Gravel Co., Cadman, Lehigh Cement, and Gary Merlino Construction.
