Construction input prices drop in July; natural gas prices off nearly 28%

Construction input prices are trending downward after spiking higher in the later throes of the pandemic.

Some good news for estimators pulling their hair out over skyrocketing costs: construction input prices decreased 1.8% in July compared to the previous month. That's according to an Associated Builders and Contractors analysis of Producer Price Index data released last week by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Nonresidential construction input prices also decreased 1.8% for the month, the association noted.
