Mount Vernon ready to break ground on sustainable library-commons project

Parking will be stacked atop the library and community center.

The city of Mount Vernon will break ground this Saturday on what it calls the country's largest civic EV charging center. The 76 publicly accessible electric vehicle charging stations are part of the Mount Vernon Library Commons project that will include a new library, community center, commercial kitchen and large solar array. The project will be at 208 W. Kincaid St. and is designed to meet PHIUS (Passive House Institute US) certification.
