Light rail faces another delay to the finish line in Tacoma

Crews earlier this year removed this existing track at South Ninth and Commerce streets that ended with a switch. A new section of straight track now connects to the Hilltop Link Extension.

Last week, Sound Transit announced that it isn't going to meet the opening date for its $282 million Hilltop light rail extension project in Tacoma — the second time the schedule has been pushed back. The agency also reiterated the ongoing delays announced over the summer with other active Link light rail projects.
