The REN tower project jumped to a quick lead in the DJC's Building of the Year contest and then held off a late surge of votes for the Ovation tower project as the contest ended last week.
In the end, REN captured 24% of the votes to become the 2022 DJC Building of the Year. Ovation garnered 16% of the votes, and two projects were deadlocked for third place with 10% — Winthrop Library and Jamestown S'Klallam Tribe Healing Clinic.
As part of the contest, the DJC randomly drew a name from the pool of voters to win a $100 gift card to Cactus Restaurants. That lucky person is Scott Weimer of ZGF, the firm that designed the REN project.
