Contractors finally get some relief as material prices dip

Earlier this year, Brundage-Bone pumped concrete for the new Pier 58 in Seattle. Some construction materials have remained pricey, such as concrete products, which rose for the 30th month in a row.

The price of materials and services used in nonresidential construction decreased 0.6% from April to May, while an index that measures contractors' bid prices inched up by 0.1%, according to an analysis by the Associated General Contractors of America of government data released last week.
