APA — The Engineered Wood Association promoted Matthew Brown to the newly created position of director of energy policy and code. Brown has over 15 years of experience in the construction industry, beginning with a regional production builder and progressing through roles at an energy rating and engineering firm before joining Tacoma-based APA in 2014. In his new role, Brown will serve as a key advisor and advocate for APA and its members on energy, code and sustainability policy issues. He will lead the development of strategic energy and sustainability initiatives, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders on behalf of the industry. He also will help educate the public and policymakers on how to leverage engineered wood's natural R-value and low embodied carbon properties.
