Hanford finishes engineered landfill that will store low-level nuke waste

The IDF consists of two expandable cells that together are nearly six football fields long, 1,345 feet wide and 42 feet deep. There also are two 400,000-gallon leachate tanks.

Crews with EM Richland Operations Office contractor Central Plateau Cleanup Co. recently completed construction of the Integrated Disposal Facility, a key component of the Direct-Feed Low-Activity Waste Program to treat the Hanford Site's tank waste.
