Skanska inks $1.4B contract for new Portage Bay Bridge

The project will build two parallel bridges with bus/carpool lanes and an extension of the SR 520 Trail.

General contractor Skanska on Wednesday said it inked a $1.4 billion contract with the state Department of Transportation to replace Portage Bay Bridge in Seattle. The job is part of the $2 billion “Rest of the West” program that is improving state Route 520 from Lake Washington to Interstate 5.
