OLYMPIA — It's National Work Zone Awareness Week and the state Department of Transportation is asking the public to wear orange on Wednesday to help bring safety awareness of the crews working on transportation projects.
National Work Zone Awareness Week and Go Orange Day are observed annually. WSDOT says most road workers can recount multiple incidents where they have had to run and jump over a barrier to avoid injuries, or even death, due to speeding, inattentive/distracted or impaired driving.
