New $28M Elwha River Bridge opens to traffic

The new bridge (on left) is 12 feet wider than the old bridge, built in 1926.

The new U.S. 101 span over the Elwha River opened to cars on Sunday, ending a nine-day closure that detoured traffic onto state routes 112 and 113 as crews built sections of U.S. 101 to connect it to the new bridge.
