Kiewit lands another WSDOT fish passage job

As of June 2024, WSDOT says it has corrected 146 prohibitive fish barrier culverts throughout the state. The pictured site is part of a project that removed barriers along US 101 near Forks this summer.

The Washington State Department of Transportation has awarded general contractor Kiewit Corp. a $48.8 million contract to remove seven existing fish barriers and replace them with fish-passable crossings to reopen habitat and help restore local salmon populations.
