WASHINGTON — Construction job growth is showing signs of slowing, according to an Associated Builders and Contractors analysis of data released last week by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
ABC says that the industry added only 8,000 jobs on net in December. Nonresidential construction jobs were up by 4,700 positions on net. The specialty trade subcategory added the most jobs, increasing by 3,900 positions. Heavy and civil engineering added 600 jobs, and nonresidential building added 200 jobs in December.
