SEATTLE — The Washington State Department of Transportation announced yesterday that it is postponing long-term lane closures that were planned for preservation work on the Interstate 5 Ship Canal Bridge.
The closures, which would allow for major preservation work on the bridge deck, had originally been scheduled to being in March; now, the long-term lane closures are expected to being in 2026. The agency says that the decision comes as it works to “align construction spending with available budget.”
